Each with waisted cylindrical neck, finely enamelled around the body with three figures in a boat in a moonlit night on one, the other with three figures over a large jar under a pine tree, all beside inscriptions and between decorative minor bands enamelled in iron red and black, the bases with iron-red Nanchang Xinghua chupin marks

Lot Essay

One of the vases recalls Su Shi's boat trip to the Red Cliff, the other depicts a humourous exchange between Su Shi and his friends Huang Tingjian and the monk Fo Yin, concerning the connoisseurship of vinegar.
