Lot Essay

Mr C.P. van Eeghen has kindly pointed out that this drawing is from a large group of landscape studies by de Vlieger of which several are in the British Museum and the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, all of them datable to the last years of his life when he had moved to Weesp. We are grateful for Mr van Eeghen's help in preparing this note.
