Napoleon is shown in his Imperial robes, designed by Isabey for the Coronation of 1804, and standing before the Imperial throne with the Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria whom he married in 1810. Loder studied at the Academy in Vienna, later becoming a member of the Academy of Parma and drawing master to the Archduchess Marie-Louise.
