Professor Dr Helmut Börsch-Supan has confirmed the attribution to Schnorr von Carolsfeld, after studying the original, in a letter dated 17 March 2006, suggesting a date circa 1850. This figure appears in a large composition illustrating Genesis made for the Lindner family in 1850, now in the Kupferstichkabinett, Basel (Zeichnungen deutscher Künstler des 19. Jahrhunderts aus dem Baseler Kupferstichkabinett, 1982/83, no. 131, pl. 64).
