Roman and italic types, Printer's woodcut device on title and at end, ruled in red, over 270 pictorial and technical woodcuts by Hans Rudolf Manuel Deutsch and perhaps Blasius Weffring, many full-page, full sheet containing 7 woodcut illustrations intended to be cut up and pasted to pp. 97 and 100 is here inserted intact between i2 and i3. (Title with repair to blank margin, s1-H4 with minor marginal worming.) 19th-century morocco, elaborately tooled and painted to imitate a 16th century design, perhaps by Louis Hagué, with a strapwork scroll design stained black, around a central coat of arms, on a stippled ground, flat spine, with matching design, edges gilt and gauffered with painted interlace design (minor rubbing to edges). Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher and Harry A. Levinson, 6 September 1955.
