[HEBREW]. Omer Scroll. Decorated Omer Scroll from Central Europe, first half 18th-century.
42 x 4875 mm. ILLUMINATED WITH 63 MINIATURES. 7 membranes, 3-5 lines.
The Omer is the period between Passover and Pentecost. The scroll contains the Hebrew text of the counting of each day. A miniature, done in a colorful, rather primitive style, follows each count. The illuminations are mostly of a military nature, showing cavalry men charging on horses, in the uniform of the Austrian Empire of the early 18th century, forts, cavalry men with banners, with musical instruments, etc.
