8o (197 x 129 mm). Printed in red and black. Engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette of Christ on title, 13 full-page engravings, engraved tailpieces. Contemporary Italian blind- and gilt-tooled calf, sides with wide diapered gilt border, central gilt floral panel with a nature-printed leaf at the center, spine in five compartments with four raised bands, gilt initials SMET in panel at foot, gauffred edges, decorated floral paper pastedowns (some light rubbing at extremities). Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 28 May 1960.

A fine example of a nature-printed bookbinding. The leaves at the center of each cover were inked and then pressed onto the calf, transposing their figures.
