Late 18th-century silver-gilt over black velvet, possibly Swiss, the covers and spine pierced and engraved with an intricate rococo design of branches, leaves and flowers, arched clasps with similar decoration, gilt paper endleaves, edges gilt. Provenance: purchased from Lucien Goldschmidt, 9 August 1954.
