Contemporary brown morocco upper cover signed GEORG COLLIN with multicolored morocco inlays and gilt lines depicting a variety of bookbindings in different styles, spine in six compartments, gilt lettered in two, brown morocco turn-ins gilt with brocade doublures and linings (upper joint repaired). Provenance: Magarete Litten (bookplate); purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 1 June 1959.
LIMITED EDITION, number 69 of 1200 copies. Bound by Georg Collin in Berlin a few years after he took over his father's bindery in 1886. Collin died in 1914 and was the last "Royal Bookbinder" to the German Emperor.
