[MINIATURE CHAINED LIBRARY.] -- FOWLER, Pamela, painter and calligrapher. Seven miniature chained books: "Some Sailing Boats"; "Anchors"; "Bouys"; "Tackles"; "Rigs"; "Knots"; "Code Flags."

Together 7 volumes, 19 x 12 mm. Pen-and-ink and watercolor drawings by Patricia Fowler. Each bound in a different color morocco by Roger Powell with a central gilt tool on each cover; each volume is chained and mounted on a horizontal rod to a miniature wooden lecturn with morocco top, and with divided compartments below; the whole rises on a platform inside a white morocco cylindrical case with removable lid; includes miniature tweezers for removing the volumes from their compartments; original wood and particle-board case with Powell's printed label. Provenance: purchased from Philip C. Duschnes, 24 November 1959.

ONE OF A LIMITED NUMBER OF SETS, this numbered 37 in pencil on Powell's label on the box. No two sets are presumably alike, as each is differently bound and includes original calligraphic books by Pamela Fowler, or in some cases her contemporaries Marie Angel and Sheila Waters.
