ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM, 40 pages on 21 leaves, all on linen guards, written in a fine upright semi-gothic hand in black, with 17 very fine illuminations, title with elaborate border incorporating Burns's coat-of-arms, full-page oval portrait of Burns in an elaborate floral border, 2 full-page depictions of Tam on horseback with lighting storm and 5 lines of verse, full-page depiction of Tam dancing with pixies, full-page depiction of Meg of the Mill, full-page depiction of the return of the soldier, full-page depiction of the lass and her farm, full-page picture of Rosy Brier, 4 smaller pictures, including of Burns's birthplace near Ayr, numerous large initials within elaborate borders, some incorporating figures and animals, with silk guards between each leaf (3 leaves loose at beginning.)

A JEWELLED BINDING SET WITH 85 JEWELS, INCLUDING 8 AGATES AND 16 RUBIES AND 16 SAPHIRES by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, crimson levant morocco, covers with richly tooled floral outer panels on pointillé background, circular strapwork designs of blue onlays at each corner set with a sapphire, strapwork designs at center of each edge set with a ruby, a large oval central design of radiating flowers on tan and green onlays centering the initials "RB" executed in metal and decorated with rubies and sapphires, rear cover with similar design executed without jewels and with central panel decorated with large central gilt lyre, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt-lettered in two, a repeated richly gilt-decorated floral panel with onlaid strapwork in the remaining, blue morocco doublures and endleaves, front doublures with central bird figure and banner reading "Woodnotes Wild," edges gilt, IN FINE CONDITION; silk and plush-lined blue morocco folding case by Sangorski & Sutcliffe.

OF VERY FINE QUALITY AND EXECUTION, containing the poems "Tam O'Shanter," "Meg o' the Mill," "The Ploughman," "To Mary in Heaven," "The Sidger's Return," "There was a Lass," "O Bonnie was Yon Rosy Brier," life of Burns (5pp).
