4o (300 x 245 mm). 49 color wood engravings by François-Louis Schmied, consisting of frontispiece, head- and tail-pieces, large decorative initial letters and several small illustrations, AN EXTRA SUITE printed in black, each plate signed and numbered 7/10 in pencil by Schmied, and original gouache design for the binding at end. (Some offsetting as usual.)

BINDING DESIGNED BY FRANÇOIS-LOUIS SCHMIED, EXECUTED FOR HIM BY GEORGES CRETTÉ, signed on inner turn-in: brown morocco, front cover inset with three enameled ceramic tiles by Jean Goulden after designs by F.-L. Schmied, with metal frames, brown and tan patterned silk doublures, silk endleaves mounted on mottled gold and silver paper, original printed wrappers bound in. Provenance: Jacques André (bookplate; limitation designation; presentation inscription); purchased from Philip C. Duschnes, 20 November 1958.

NO. 30 OF 80 COPIES 'NOMINATIF', signed by Schmied beneath the printed designation of this copy to Jacques André (from an edition of 140); THE EXTRA SUITE NO. 7 OF 7 COPIES FOR COLLABORATORS. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY SCHMIED TO ANDRÉ on the justification leaf for the suite: "Jacques André en temoinage de gratitude et d'attachemente affecteux . F.-L. Schmied." Bound in at end is the original gouache drawing executed by Schmied on heavy paper with silver highlighting. Duncan and De Barth and De Bartha 108; Ritchie 15.
