Designed as a miniature book, unfolding to reveal a series of polished gold rectangular links, spelling Recuerdo in polychrome enamel flowers, with two foliate enamel covers enhanced by black tracery work, the reverse of each bearing a miniature portrait compartment, the clasp designed as a half-domed cylinder, of black enamel, enhanced by two rows of half seed pearls, circa 1865.
