CIRCA 1765, BLUE CROWNED CT MONOGRAM AND AB AND 6 FOR ADAM BERGOLL, HM: IN SEPIA
Modelled by Karl Gottlieb Lück, the mother's white overdress with blue bows, her underskirt with flower-sprays, seated on a chair by an oval green-topped table with a vase, a doll and a toy trolley, the girl standing before her presenting a posy, her nursemaid beside her, the nursemaid in a white bonnet, her white skirt and apron with blue flowers, on a brown and green mound base applied with leaves and grass and edged with gilt scrolls (restoration to vase, toy trolley, table, stool and mother's fingers, minor chipping to bows, leaves and grass, firing fault to girl's neck and maid's left thumb)

Lot Essay

This group is not recorded by Friedrich H. Hofmann, op. cit. (Munich, 1911), but a related group, 'Der Geburtstag des Vaters', illustrated in Vol. 2, pl. 102, incorporates the same figures of the girl and her nursemaid.
