Gérard Péridiez,maître in 1761.
The 1976 catalogue entry mentions that this table a écrire is stamped both PERIDIEZ and JME. These stamps are now missing, probably as a result of a restoration to the underside of the table. Gérard Péridiez is known to have manufactured little tables and dressing tables with floral marquetry. The table top was most probably originally conceived to be sliding or to have a rising screen to the back, and it may have been transformed during the 19th century in England, when the top was replaced.
