The oak shield mounted with brass plaque engraved 'FINAL HEAT KADIR CUP 1923 WON BY 'LOVELACE' 31 - 175 LBS'
22½ in. (57.2 cm.) high;
together with another boar head trophy, mounted on an ebonised shield, silvered plaque engraved with monogram 'IE.B.B. AGRA FEBRUARY 19TH 1903' (2)

Lot Essay

Sir Edward Bertram Bates, 3rd Bt. (1877-1903) died from enteric fever at Agra on 6 March 1903. He had caught the disease while pig-sticking, the second specimen in this lot being killed by him only two weeks earlier.
