Lot Essay

James Stroudley was a painter, printmaker and teacher. He studied at the Royal College of Art and as a Major Abbey Scholar spent three years travelling in Italy. His work was strongly influenced by the classic Italian painters, notably Giotto and Piero della Francesca. Public collections in Bradford, Brighton, Coventry and Rochdale hold examples of his work.
