Bodysgallen Hall is situated on the West of the Pydew Mountains and was famed for being 'embosomed in woods of noble growth' (Fenton 1810). The origins of the hall date back to the 13th Century, but from the 17th Century was extended over a period of three hundred years. The hall came into the Mostyn family with the marriage of Margaret Wynn, daughter and heiress of Dr Hugh Wynn of Bodysgallen and Berth Ddu, to Sir Roger Mostyn (1734-1831), 5th Baronet, in 1766. Lady Augusta Mostyn restored and remodelled the hall in the early 20th Century. During the First World War Colonel Henry Mostyn raised the 17th Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, who paraded in the park at Bodysgallen. The Hall remained in the Mostyn family until 1969, and is now a Country house hotel.
