The first with regulation brass hilt involving a pair of shell guards and slender bars; the second with lightly chiselled iron hilt previously incorporating a sprung-in plate; the third of characteristic 'Bilbo' type and the last with shortened military blade and iron hilt formed with a pair of acutely upturned bars
