A TURKISH KILIG
18th/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With well-formed blade double-edged toward the point, chiselled with panels of scrollwork in low relief on a gilt ground on both sides below the hilt and at the base of the point, incorporating a calligraphic gold koftgari cartouche on both sides below the hilt, brass cross piece with bud-shaped terminals, horn grip-scales rising to form a bulbous pommel and in its original brass-mounted leather-covered wooden scabbard, with original cord for suspension
the blade -- 25 5/8 in. (70.2 cm.)
