Lot Essay

The stands for vases or candelabra, likely to have been en suite with a mid-eighteenth century pier-set table and mirror, are carved in the French picturesque manner with serpentined ribbon scrolls wreathed in flowers and Roman foliage; while their claws’ are enriched with hollow-bubbled scallops.
