AN ITALIAN VERRE EGLOMISE, MOULDED GLASS AND GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED MIRROR

The rectangular plate within a moulded and stepped surround decorated with red foil-backed interlacing reserves filled with flowerheads and stylised fleurs-de-lys, centred to all sides with masks of winged putti and with foliate corner clasps, with further verre eglomisé narrow panels with black and gold scrolling floral sprays within oblong reserves, within two rows of spirally twisted glass baguettes, the outer border with conforming red foil-backed decorated panels and shield-shaped and cabochon-filled angle mounts, the pierced cresting with suspension ring in the shape of a gadrooned flaming urn flanked by S-scroll motifs, some losses to the decoration of some verre eglomisé panels, minor replacements to the mounts, including one of the outermost angle clasps
