Lot Essay

The subject was also painted by the Daniells (Oriental Scenery, IV, pl.9), and Lieut.-Col. Charles Ramus Forrest's A Picturesque Tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna (1824) includes an aquatint vignette 'Sicre Gully Pass, between Bengal and Bahar' at the foot of page 191 (Abbey, Travel II, 441, p.146).
