The artist was based in Hong Kong and produced illustrations for Ilustration Filipina in the 1850s and the 1860s, including engravings of original sketches by Charles Wirgman (1832-1891), an artist who visited Manila and whose work in Manila was published in the Illustrated London News in 1857-58.
