A rare Swiss gilt-brass quarter striking large carriage clock made for the Turkish market with repeat, alarm and calendar
Auguste Courvoisier & Comp. Chaux-de Fonds, No. 2014. Circa 1830
The white enamel chapter disc with Turkish numerals and blued steel hands, signed Ate Courvoisier & Compe Chaux-de-Fonds, calendar and alarm discs below, wound through an engine-turned gilt mask, the movement with twin spring barrels, platform with plain four-arm balance to straight line lever escapement, brass and polished steel rack and snail work planted on the backplate with quarter strike/quarter repeat and alarm on two bells, the backplate signed Augst. Courvoisier Chaux de Fonds No. 2014, the backplate further engraved Echappment A Ancre trois levees huit trous en rubis, the baseplate with strike silent/lever - Sonnerie/Silence, gilt-brass foliate cast multipiece case with bevelled glasses, later repeat button to the top, with the original gold-tooled leather travelling case with key compartment in the base
