A fine Victorian brass and white marble striking skeleton clock

The foliate pierced brass movement frame with six double screwed pillars, twin fusees and spring barrels with chain lines, anchor escapement with three-rod pendulum with brass bob decorated with a blued steel cut star, hour strike on a large gong and passing half-hour strike on a bell above the plates, the pierced brass chapter ring with Roman chapters and stylised blued steel fleur-de-lys hands, fancy-cut steel rackwork, the clock resting on the original purple velvet-lined base applied with a silvered plaque engraved by the maker Smith & Sons, St. John's Sque.
