The case with bell top flanked by four urn finials and surmounted by a foliate pierced and engraved gallery with central finial above an engraved time glass, the sides of the case with drop handles and foliate pierced and engraved frets over glass, the moulded base with brass bracket feet, the re-gilt dial signed James Gales London on a silvered recessed plaque in the matted centre with calendar aperture, silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch, the movement with five pillars and twin fusees with gut lines and spring barrels, pivoted verge escapement and strike on a bell above the plates, the backplate engraved with scrolling foliage and with similarly engraved backcock and movement securing brackets, later pendulum holdfast
