A George III ebony and gilt-metal mounted small striking bracket clock

The well proportioned case with gilt-brass mouldings, foliate handle to the inverted bell top flanked by four pineapple finials, fishscale frets to the sides, foliate pierced and engraved quarter frets to the front door, the base with gilt-brass squab feet, the dial signed John Richards London on a silvered plaque in the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch flanked by bearded mask mounts, the movement with five pillars, twin fusees, verge escapement, hour strike on a bell with trip repeat, the backplate engraved all over with intertwining foliage within a scored line border, the movement secured in the case by means of two screws through the base into the bottom pillars
