Spring Lane on a Summer Afternoon
signed with a fly (lower left), signed, inscribed and dated 'Spring Lane on a Summer Afternoon-/Every fine afternoon, Grandma and the three aunts/called for Mother, George and I (and the dogs, Gyp &/Barney) to go for our walk along Spring Lane towards/the Cemetery. We meet Mr Taylor, The Bank Manager/who is shaking hands with Grandma. Aunt/Charlotte, the youngest aunt is very shy. She has/blushed pink. Mother sees Miss Carter (who wore/pink) coming along. She isn't wearing her/smartest dress and is feeling very cross/about it. Miss Maitland and her mother have/stopped to speak to young Albert Green, the/new curate, and the year was 1908./Helen Layfield Bradley/1967' (on a label attached to the reverse)
