Lot Essay

Sir Charles Allom, the architect-antiquarian-decorator, was partner in White Allom & Co. of Hanover Square, London. In the 1920's, Sir Charles redecorated Buckingham Palace for George V and spent two years transforming St Donat's Castle in South Wales for William Randolph Hearst.
