The silver mounts overlaid with flowers, insects and fruit in filigree and coloured enamels, the plate behind the filigree in silver gilt, the background to the decoration on the fuchi-kashira, kojiri, kurikata and kozuka in ishime, bordered in ropework, the blade with engravings of pine, bamboo and plum
