Signed Dewa (no) ju Ito Muneyoshi - Gyonen Nijuyonsai saku and dated Kaei Gonen Nigatsu hi- (A day in the second month 1852)
Sugata [configuration]: slender hirazukuri with uchizori and thick kasane, iorimune
Kitae [forging pattern]: close packed koitame flowing near the lower part of the blade, almost muji hada in places, with mizukage-like shirake near the machi
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha
Boshi [tip]: komaru
Nakago [tang]: 2 holes, osujigai file marks with some kiri kesho marks on the omote, and ha-agari kurijiri tip.
Nagasa [length of blade from tip to beginning of tang]: 22cm
Koshirae [mounting]: in its aikuchi koshirae with a black lacquer saya divided into matt and polished sections by a gold lacquer hishi-shaped line. Shoga mon are applied in various gold makie, silver fittings engraved with shoga mon and leafy scrolling, the kurikata on a band around the saya in the form of a dragon among waves, shibuichi menuki of chidori, accompanied by a black-lacquered box with leafy scrolling and shoga mon in various gold makie, 19th century.
