AN IMARI BOWL AND AN ARITA DISH
Edo Period (17th-18th Century)
The first a deep moulded bowl decorated in iron-red, blue, green, yellow, black enamels and gilt, the centre with a dragon and the sides with flowers and foliage, the exterior with flowering peonies and cartouches with designs of pavilions; the second a shallow dish decorated in underglaze blue depicting a bird on a rock within a circular band of roundels, the reverse with a stylised Chinese mark and three spur marks
