A PAIR OF INLAID EBONY VASES
Signed Ichiyosai Muneharu, Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
Both of ovoid form, with an everted foliate and integral Chinese-style stand, with inlaid wood handles carved in the form of reishi fungus, the necks and stand with rectangular inlaid hatched ivory panels, two opposing panels of various rural scenes, the first vase with a farmer, on the reverse a waterwheel and a plank bridge, pine and bamboo, on the second vase on one side, a man pulling up bamboo shoots and on the reverse a plank bridge across a stream and bamboo, each signed Ichiyosai Muneharu
