Lot Essay

This Anglo Indian writing table bears similarities to Bombay blackwood furniture made in the second half of the 19th century. The handles of the drawers terminate in stylised serpents which is a typical motif of the 1850's (see Amin Jaffer. Furniture From British India and Ceylon, London, 2001, pp.347-350)
