A 19th-Century English mahogany domestic medicine chest,
with brass plaque engraved Keating & Comp.yChemists & Druggists 79 StPauls Church Yard LONDON , of cupboard style with red velvet lining throughout, the galleried doors each containing six bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels (four missing), the central swing-down box-like section with brass bun feet on the underside and drawers beneath the work surface, one containing six small bottles with stoppers, the other with measures and a mortar and pestle, the central recessed galleried area housing nine bottles with ground stoppers, the upper central section with a further drawer containing four tin boxes, a handheld apothecary balance and other items, the case with a recessed brass carrying handle and two escutcheons (one blank) and key -- 27.5 x 29.5 x 19.4cm.
