A 19th-Century English mahogany domestic medicine chest,
with brass plaque engraved Keating & Comp.yChemists & Druggists 79 StPauls Church Yard LONDON, of cupboard style with red velvet lining throughout, the galleried doors each containing six bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels (four missing), the central swing-down box-like section with brass bun feet on the underside and drawers beneath the work surface, one containing six small bottles with stoppers, the other with measures and a mortar and pestle, the central recessed galleried area housing nine bottles with ground stoppers, the upper central section with a further drawer containing four tin boxes, a handheld apothecary balance and other items, the case with a recessed brass carrying handle and two escutcheons (one blank) and key -- 27.5 x 29.5 x 19.4cm.
