A Replica Rara Culpeper compound monocular microscope of circa 1725,
the turned lignum vitae box-top sectioned to house four objectives and with screw attachment to the detachable eyepiece mount, the gilt-tooled green pasteboard body-tube sliding into the shagreen-covered outer tube for focusing, with turned lignum vitae nosepiece, the body-tube supported via three lacquered-brass pillars to the lacquered-brass circular platform with central sprung stage, bull's-eye condensor and forceps, the stage supported via three lacquered-brass pillars to a turned lignum vitae base with plane mirror mounted in the centre, with brass tweezers, black/white disc, turned ivory talc box and a lignum-mounted loup, the pyramid-shaped oak case with facsimile of Culpeper's trade card, fitted base drawer for accessories, brass carrying ring, escutcheon and key -- 46cm. (18 1/8in.) high
