A 19th-Century lacquered-brass surveyor's compass,
signed W. & S. Jones Holborn LONDON., the glazed silvered compass with edgebar needle, eight compass points initialled and circumference scale in four quadrants, mounted in a brass circular box with two folding sights, on a brass plate with chamfered edge and vernier to read off a larger brass disc beneath with 0-360° circumference scale -- 16cm. (6¼in.) diameter
