An 18th-Century brass universal equinoctial ring dial,
unsigned, engraved around the chapter ring James Heron's Present to W. Campbell at Rosemount April 3 - 1769, the chapter ring with hours III-XII, I-IX and graduations on the inside edge, the bridge with sliding pinhole sight, initials for days of the month on one side and 20-0-20 graduations on the other, the two hinge covers each engraved with a decorative character (?M?W), the equinoctial ring with one quadrant of graduations on one side, a 0-90° declination scale on the other and sliding throne and suspension loop -- 7.9cm. (3 1/8in.) dia.
