An unusual Italian brass skeleton mantel regulator with adjustable observatory strike, 20th Century
Raised on four columns and rotating on an ebonised plinth, under glass dome, the white enamel Roman chapter disc with seconds ring at XII, signed OFFICINA GALILEO/FIRENZE, blued steel Breguet hands, the single barrel movement with lever variant escapement positioned above the plates, flat rim balance with blued steel helical spring, with passing strike on bell to the side, adjustable for off and for 5 or 10 seconds intervals, with repeat stamp to the rear and numbered NO.202, the front plate numbered 5008 -- 13½ in. (34 cm.) high over dome
