A Louis XVI ormolu and blue-painted striking mantel clock, circa 1770
The case surmounted by a part blue-painted fluted urn finial and flanked by pineapple finials, above fluted pilasters and D-ended base with panels applied with foliate mounts against blue-painted reserves, on six berried laurel toupie feet, with conforming oak leaf, acorn and flower mounts around the white enamel dial with royal blue and gilt-edged dial, the Arabic chapters with gilt swags and emerald green jewels between them, signed in crimson Robin/AU LOUVRE, pierced and chased ormolu hands, with pierced rear door to the eight day twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell, stamped with a conjoined VA monogram -- 15¾ in.
