The lantern-shaped case with fixed handle above escapement viewing glass, dial with silvered Roman chapter ring, flanked by columns mounted respectively with compass and ship's wheel and with ornamental sun dial and thermometer, above black slate plinth with chain-link mounts, the eight day twin barrel movement with platform lever escapement and strike on bell -- 11¾ in. (30 cm.) wide
