The (now) two-tier box with recessed brass side handles and bone plaque to the front, with brass bowl numbered to 5386 and gimbal to 125 mm. diameter silvered dial, with eight day up/down ring and subsidiary seconds ring numbered to the centre 4513, gold main hands and blued steel subsidiaries, signed ALEX.R DOBBIE & SON/18 & 19, CLYDE PLACE, GLASGOW/MAKERS TO THE ADMIRALTY, reversed chain fusee with plain plates, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement mounted on a sub-assembly with chain guard and numbered 5386 to its underside, cut bimetallic balance with cylindrical compensation weights and steel helical spring, maintaining power -- 8 in.
