Further details
It is thought these items bearing London hallmarks were made in the Channel Islands, then sent to London for hallmarking. The Drawback mark was only used between 1/12/1784 and 24/7/1785 on all plate intended for export, indicating that the duty paid on assay had been repaid. It was discontinued due to the damage done to the finished article and the delay caused in exporting the piece.
