A LATE VICTORIAN COMMEMORATIVE NOVELTY SILVER DESK TIMEPIECE,
MARK OF EDWARD BROWN, LONDON, 1892,
Modelled as a ship's wheel, the "spokes" of the wheel formed as cut-out capital letters, "H", "A", "E", "G", "E", "K" AND "A", the "G" superimposed with a baron's coronet, below this an applied earl's coronet above a monogram composed of two "C"s reversed & interlaced, centred by an "E", the lower edge applied with dates "1867" & "1892", the timepiece with a black enamel face with white Roman numerals, silvered hands & an auxiliary seconds dial retailed by Collingwood & Co., hinged strut at back resting on ball feet, 5½ in. high (14 cm.)
