The Royal Thames Regatta, held on 26/6/1845, was won by the Tyneside crew led by the celebrated Harry Clasper in his boat "Lord Ravensworth". They won by almost 1½ boat lengths against two London crews and were presented with the 100 pound prize & the Championship of the World by Sir Lancelot Shadwell, Vice Chancellor of England.
