A RARE VICTORIAN SILVER ARCHERY PRIZE CARD CASE,
MARK OF TAYLOR & PERRY, BIRMINGHAM, 1840,
Pierced & chased at front & back with shells, flowers & foliage, one side with a panel chased in low relief with buildings on the front at Torquay, yachts in the foreground, stamped "TORQUAY" at base of panel, the other side with a similar panel depicting a large rock to the right of a bay, with fishermen & fishing boat in foreground, paddle- steamer & yachts out at sea & buildings & coastline visible to left of panel, inscribed on cover "Alice Elizabeth Eden", further inscribed to sides "Grand National Archery Meeting, Cheltenham, 1857" and "Extra Prize. Presented by Furber & Son.", 2.75 oz.
