A mirrored back builder's half model of the coastal freighter S.S. Ardnagrena
George Brown & Co., Greenock; circa 1908
the hull, built up in wood, with a painted red bottom, white waterline, black topsides with drawn in ports, an applied waist, painted name and draft markings, propeller, hawse pipes and other hull details. The decks are of veneer with the deck planking drawn in India ink and detailed with ventilators, anchor windlass, bollards, ladders, forward mast with cargo boom, cargo mast with boom, winches, bridge with wheel, binnacle and engine telegraph, funnel with whistle and steam pipe and the letter "W" applied, boat on davits, mizzen mast for steadying sail, and other details. Mounted on a mirror with angled for and aft mirrors within a mahogany framed glass display case.
