HARDY, Sir Thomas Masterman (1769-1839).
Letter signed ('T.M. Hardy' as Captain of H.M.S. Barfleur) to Vice Admiral the Honourable G.C. Berkeley, 'His Majesty's Gun Brig Growler, in the Tagus', 21 July 1810, referring to a list of the crew of the Growler (not present), 'except the few recommendations inserted under the head of remarks, we find the vessel's Books very correct', also signed by two other captains, one page, folio (some light wear and staining), framed and glazed;
[with] Printed documented, completed in manuscript and watercolour, 'Private Signals, to be observed between His Majesty's Ships, and the Post Office Pacquets', this series 'Established 26 March, to commence 1 June 1818', the signals depicting combinations of flags and pennants, coloured in red and blue, for each day of the week, authorisation signature of Admiral Edward Thornbrough, one page, folio, framed and glazed.
