The waved gallery with applied paterae above four frieze drawers and four reeded panelled doors, flanked by acanthus-carved trusses on spiral turned legs terminating in high-ankled paw feet

Lot Essay

The decorative features of this sideboard, notably the shaped gallery, grooved plate across the back for the display of dishes, applied trusses and high-ankled paw feet suggest this sideboard orignates from the north of Ireland. A similar example is illustrated in Regional Furniture, The Journal of the Regional Furniture Society, Volume XIX, 2005, page 38.
